Privacy in the RemoteTelevisie app

1. About this policy

This privacy policy applies specifically to the RemoteTelevisie application available for download at remotetv.nl/download, and to the download page itself. For the general privacy policy covering our website and IPTV services, please refer to remotetv.nl/privacy.html.

2. The download page

The page remotetv.nl/download provides installation files for Windows (.msi) and Android (.apk). When you visit this page we process:

• Technical data – IP address, browser type, operating system (standard server logs)
• Download counter – the total number of downloads is counted, but not linked to individual visitors
• Referrer – which page you came from before visiting the download page

This data is used solely for security, fraud prevention and estimating the app's popularity. Server logs are kept for a maximum of 30 days.

3. Data in the app

The RemoteTelevisie app is designed with privacy as a core principle. The app does not collect personal data and does not send any to our servers. Everything the app needs is stored locally on your device.

Stored locally by the app:

• Your activation code (encrypted in the local configuration file)
• Your IPTV playlist URL (M3U / Xtream Codes)
• Your preferences (language, theme, favourite channels)
• EPG cache (programme guide data) — for faster loading
• Log files for troubleshooting (only on your own device)

4. Activation code

After a 3-day trial period, the app will ask for an activation code. You receive this code from us via WhatsApp after purchasing a subscription.

How activation works:

• You enter the activation code in the app
• The app performs a one-time check against our activation server to verify the code
• After successful activation, the code is stored locally on your device
• The app then performs periodic checks to verify that the code is still active

During activation we process only the activation code itself — no personal data, no device fingerprints and no location data.

5. IPTV playlist & credentials

In order to play channels, movies and series, the app uses an M3U playlist or Xtream Codes credentials. These details:

• Are stored exclusively on your local device
• Are used to fetch streams directly from the IPTV server
• Are not accessed or shared by RemoteTelevisie

6. Network traffic

The app connects to the following endpoints:

• RemoteTelevisie activation server – to validate your activation code
• The IPTV server you have credentials for – to fetch streams and EPG data
• Update server – to check whether a new version of the app is available

The app makes no connections to external analytics, advertising or tracking services. It does not include Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, the Facebook SDK or any similar trackers.

7. App permissions

Windows

• Network access – for streams and activation
• Disk access – for storing settings and cache in the user folder

Android

• INTERNET – for streams and activation
• WAKE_LOCK – to keep the screen on during playback
• READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE – optional, for importing a local M3U playlist
• FOREGROUND_SERVICE – to enable background playback

The app does not request access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone or photos.

8. SmartScreen & security

During installation on Windows, SmartScreen may show a warning because the app is not yet recognised by millions of users. This warning says nothing about the safety or privacy level of the app — it is purely about how well-known the certificate is to Microsoft.

The installer (.msi) and APK file are signed by RemoteTelevisie. If you want extra reassurance, you can scan the downloaded files with VirusTotal.

9. Donations via Revolut

The download page includes an optional donation link to Revolut (revolut.me/pbrdel). If you donate:

• The payment is processed entirely by Revolut
• We only receive the amount and (where Revolut shares it) your first name
• We do not receive any bank details or card numbers

10. Children

The RemoteTelevisie app and associated service are not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly request or process data from minors. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that a minor has provided personal data to us, please contact us so we can remove it.

11. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• Request access to the data we process about you
• Have incorrect data corrected
• Have your activation and related data deleted
• Object to processing
• Lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority or your local supervisory authority

Because the app stores almost all data locally, you can remove most of it yourself by uninstalling the app or clearing its data.

12. Changes

We update this document whenever there are significant changes to the app or this policy. The version and date at the top of this page indicate when this policy was last updated. Major changes will be announced via the app and/or WhatsApp.
